Haunted Season is operated by Haunted Season LLC, a subsidiary of Jollitail Pty Ltd. This page covers hauntedseason.com and everything under that domain.
We want this site to work for everyone who visits it, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, voice control, or captions.
What we are working toward
We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA on hauntedseason.com.
We are not claiming the site meets every criterion at that level today. Parts of the site run on code we did not write, including our Shopify theme, the Shopify checkout, our payment providers, third party apps, and embedded video. We do not control all of it, and some of it changes without notice. Where we find a problem in third party code we report it to the vendor and look for a workaround in the meantime.
What we have done
- Chosen a Shopify theme built with accessibility in mind, and kept its skip links, focus outlines, and heading structure intact
- Written descriptive alt text on product images, and decorative-only markup on images that carry no information
- Checked that every page can be reached and every form completed using a keyboard alone
- Checked text and background colour combinations against the WCAG contrast thresholds
- Tested key pages with a screen reader
- Written link text that makes sense on its own
We do not use an accessibility overlay or automated remediation widget. Those tools do not fix the underlying code, and we would rather spend the effort on the code.
Known issues
- Some supplier product images include text baked into the image. We are rewriting the alt text on these as we work through the catalogue.
- Embedded video from third party platforms uses that platform's own player, and we do not control its controls or captions.
If something on this site does not work for you
Email sales@hauntedseason.com. Tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and the browser, device, and any assistive technology you were using.
We aim to reply within two business days. We are based in Australia, so a message sent during US business hours will usually be answered the following day.
If we cannot fix the problem quickly, we will help you do whatever you were trying to do another way, including taking your order and processing it for you directly. You should not have to wait for a code fix to buy something.
Checkout and payments
Our checkout is hosted and maintained by Shopify. Payments are processed by Airwallex and PayPal. Accessibility of those pages is largely determined by those companies. If you hit a barrier during checkout, email us at the address above and we will complete the order with you directly.
How we review this
We review this page and re-check the site whenever we make a significant change to the theme, and at least twice a year. The date at the top reflects the most recent review.
